The private Wote processing station is located near the city of Congo in the Yirgacheffe region. Yirgacheffe is known for its clean, floral washed coffee and high quality naturally processed coffee with unique fruit and berry flavours. The area where this coffee is grown has, in our opinion, some of the most complex and intense coffee flavours in Yirgacheffe.
This station buys coffee from around 600 small farmers. Farmers have an average farm size of less than 1 hectare. Most of the coffees are organic by design. Organic compost is commonly used for fertilisation and pruning of coffee trees is also less frequent. A farmer usually has less than 1500 trees per hectare and 1 tree on average produces cherries equivalent to less than 100-200 grams of green coffee.
